Blue Streaks Sweep Purple Raiders To Reach OAC Women's Tennis Championship For Fourth Consecutive Year

Box Score A doubles sweep followed by two convincing singles wins vaulted the John Carroll Blue Streaks past Mount Union, 5-0, and into the championship match of the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Tournament for the fourth consecutive year.

In a match played indoors at the Queen City Racquet Club in Glendale, Ohio, the top seeded Blue Streaks were dominant from the get go. Natalie Bourlas and Nicolette Bourlas secured the first point with an 8-0 win at #2 doubles, and were followed into the winners circle by Lauren O'Malley and Madisyn Rini at #1 and Jennifer Stroyne and Allyssa Krupp at #3.

Needing just two wins in singles play to book a spot in the championship final, Natalie Bourlas took care of Trisha Kohut, 6-0 6-0, at #6 singles and Rini put the match away with a 6-1 6-1 at #2 singles over Jordan Teaford.

The Blue Streaks will face #2 seed Ohio Northern in the championship match tomorrow (Saturday, May 5) at 10:00 a.m. at the Lindner Family tennis Center in Mason, Ohio. JCU defeated the Polar Bears, 8-1, in the regular season meeting last Sunday, April 29.

John Carroll, now 17-6 on the year, has won the last two OAC Tournaments, beating Otterbein in the 2016 final and Ohio Northern in 2017.
