Box Score
Overtime has not been kind to the John Carroll men's soccer team in 2012.
After winning both of its extra-period matches in 2011, the Blue Streaks have now lost their first three overtime contests this season. The latest was a 3-2 defeat at the hands of the College of Wooster on the road Wednesday night.
Despite a 22-7 shot disparity in favor of John Carroll, Wooster made its attempts count, scoring the golden goal when Sheamus Dalton headed in a cross seven minutes into the first extra period.
The Fighting Scots struck first blood in the 12th minute, before
Mariusz Trzeciak (assist by Trenton Guy) knotted the score at one before the half.
The second half went 42 minutes without a score, until Wooster's David Mallet nailed a header off a free kick to break the tie. However, a mere 34 seconds later,
Jon Smola took a pass from Trzeciak and gave JCU new life until Dalton's goal ended the match.
In a game that included three yellow cards and two reds, the Blue Streaks could not find gold.
Wooster's late game heroics improve its season record to 2-5 while John Carroll slips to an identical 2-5 ledger.
