The Women's Lacrosse Program Earns A Spot On The IWLCA Academic Honor List, Led By Six Individuals Who Earned Individual Honors
UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – The John Carroll Women's Lacrosse program has collected a few accolades from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA).

As a team, the Blue Streaks secured a spot on the IWLCA Division III Academic Honor Roll list, led by six individuals who earned recognition on the IWLCA Academic Squad.

These six student-athletes who achieved this honor are Ellie Fleischer, Emily Van Gorder, Olivia Hanulak, Karson Martin, Lauren Schwartz, and Hannah Weiss

To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher.

The Blue Streaks made their way to the Academic Honor Roll by making the 3.2 GPA cut.

This past season was a tremendous year for the Blue Streaks, as the team shared the OAC Championship crown for the regular season, earned OAC Tournament Runner-Up status, and secured a bid to the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Tournament, making it to the second round.

Olivia Hanulak (Finance / Leadership Development) led the team in scoring this season, earning a total of 76 points. The graduate student, in her best season for the Blue Streaks, became an integral part of the offense by scoring 53 goals and 23 assists.

Another graduate student who had an excellent season was Lauren Schwartz (Sports Leadership / Early Childhood Education). With seven goals and 12 assists, the Bay Village native earned 19 points.

Ellie Fleischer (Economics / Political Science) recorded a total of nine points with three goals and six assists. She also had a total of four ground balls in her last season for the Blue Streaks. After graduation, the JCU Sports Information alum was awarded a Fulbright U.S. Student Program grant to serve as an English Teaching Assistant (ETA) in Germany.

Karson Martin (Exercise Science) became a huge contributor this year as she collected a total of 14 ground balls with 36 draw controls to earn herself a spot on the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll.

Hannah Weiss (Exercise Science) was able to help on the defensive side, who collected a total of 17 ground balls, as well as a total of four caused turnovers for the team.

Last but not least, Emily Van Gorder (Early Childhood Education) had herself a year on the defensive side for the program as she earned a total of 29 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers throughout the year.

These players have reached the standards academically and athletically and have competed at the highest level for the program.
