Men’s Track & Field Stands In Second Place After Day One Of OAC Outdoor Championships

WILMINGTON, Ohio – Outdoor championship season has finally arrived for the Blue Streaks. 

The 2025 OAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships kicked off on Thursday, May 1st hosted by Wilmington College at Williams Stadium. 

Looking at where the Blue Streaks sit after day one, they are currently in second place with a score of 56 points. The Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets lead the OAC Championships with 60 points, while the Wilmington Quakers sit in third place with a total score of 43 points, 

Day One Full Results

To kick off the meet, in the field events, senior Matthew Russo would earn his first All-OAC honor in the men's discus throw with a mark of 46.56 meters, placing second overall on the podium.

Luke Frazier and Julius Kimbrough would contribute heavily for the Blue Streaks as they would place second and third overall in the men's high jump. Frazier would jump 2.00 meters, while Kimbrough would jump 2.00 meters, which is a new personal best for the first year. 

Frazier would also earn his second All-OAC accolade of the weekend in the men's long jump with a mark of 6.88 meters. 

In the 400 meter dash prelims, Basheer Alramahi (47.52 seconds) and Tyler Gast (48.05 seconds) would advance to Friday's final placing first and sixth overall in the event. 

First year Charlie Payne would lead for the Blue Streaks in the men's 3000 meter steeplechase as he would secure a third place finish to be named All-OAC in the event. Payne would clock in at 9:31.67. Junior James Johnson would also score for the team, placing eighth overall with a new personal best of 9:52.67. 

The men's 400 meter hurdles was an exciting one as three Blue Streak sprinters would advance to Friday's final. Tony Tirado (55.55 seconds), Mick Doyle (55.74 seconds), and Victor Ononogbo (56.32 seconds) would all place in the top five of the prelims. 

Senior Tyler Gast will advance to tomorrow's final in the 200 meter dash, securing second overall with a time of 21.93 seconds, which is also a new personal best for him. 

In the men's 10000 meter run, three Blue Streak runners would contribute as senior Dominic Delmoro would lead for the team, placing second overall with a time of 31:17.00 to earn All-OAC. Sophomore Nate Julien would place fifth overall, finishing with a time of 31:40.26, while senior Ryan Champa would follow suit with a seventh place finish with a time of 32:09.80. 

Last, but not least, the men's 4x800 meter relay of Michael Hvizdos, Jett Wieber, Josh Ackerman, and Ian Paul would place fourth overall, finishing with a total time of 7:44.11 to score five points for the Blue Streaks.

The men are off to a great start as they will now look to carry these solid performances going into day two on Friday, May 2nd. The field events will kick off the day at 11:00 AM and the track events will begin at 3:00 PM.
