Anthony Markello and Luis Wentz Notch CSC Academic All-District Honors

The Men's Tennis duo did well in the classroom and on the court

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – Two athletes for the John Carroll Men's Tennis Team have received Academic All-District honors given out by the College Sports Communicators. 

The two athletes were Anthony Markello and Luis Wentz as these gentlemen proved what it took to succeed on the tennis court and in the classroom. 

Anthony Markello, a junior from East Aurora, New York, is an economics major and part of the Boler College of Business here at John Carroll. This is his second year in a row as a recipient for this honor. 

Markello ended his 2025 campaign with a 4-9 record out of the #1 spot for the Blue Streaks. The junior received All-OAC First Team recognition in 2024 and finished his freshman season in 2023 with All-OAC Second Team honors. 

Luis Wentz, a double major in Supply Chain Management and Marketing, is a senior from Mars, PA. 

Wentz finished his season with an overall 5-8 record, as he played majority of his matches out of the #5 spot. Wentz caps off his final season for the Blue Streaks with a prominent achievement.
