Women’s Track & Field Begins 2025 Outdoor Season At Cedarville University

Women's Track & Field Post Solid Performances At The Yellow Jacket Collegiate Open At Cedarville University
CEDARVILLE, Ohio – The Blue Streaks have returned to action as they traveled to Cedarville University for the Yellow Jacket Collegiate Open to kick off the 2025 outdoor campaign. 

Out of 24 teams, the women would place seventh overall, scoring a total of 42.50 points throughout the meet. Ashland University would take home the victory, scoring 107.50 points.

The field events would get off to a great start as Lily Shahan (38.16 meters) and Leah Fritsch (36.20 meters) would place themselves in the top 10, earning second and seventh place finishes for the Blue Streaks. 

Senior Cara Jewett earned a new personal best in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 44.14 meters, followed by junior Sarah Hart placing 18th with a mark of 43.08 meters. 

In the women's high jump, senior Emmy Bryan would pick up where she left off as she would place fifth overall with a mark of 1.53 meters, earning a top five finish. 

Moving on to the running events, in the women's 4x100 meter relay, the team of Mia Scott, Sandra King, Kaleigh McNamara, and Dakota Houston would run 47.33 seconds to place third overall. 

King would later return for the 400 meter dash as she would earn a new personal best in the process, placing fourth overall with a time of 58.94 seconds.

In the women's 200 meter dash, first year Dakota Houston would continue to impress for the Blue Streaks as she would break the outdoor school record in the event. Houston would place third overall with a time of 24.20 seconds. This is her second school record broken this track & field season. 

Senior Mia Scott would also earn a new personal best in the 100 meter dash, placing herself in the top 15 with a time of 12.30 seconds. 

There were several breakout performances from the women today as they would start off hot going into the 2025 outdoor season. 

Next up for the Blue Streaks will be the Wooster Invitational next Friday to Saturday, April 4th-5th at the College of Wooster. Meet information will be posted next week.
