Women’s Track & Field Finishes Third Place At OAC Indoor Championships

Emmy Bryan Earns Her First OAC Championship In The Women's High Jump (1.63 Meters)
ADA, OH – The John Carroll Women's Track & Field team returned for day two of the 2025 OAC Indoor Track & Field Championships at Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio at the ONU Sports Center. 

The women are coming off of four All-OAC finishes, two OAC individual championship performances, and a school record from Dakota Houston in the 60 meter dash prelim, running 7.63 seconds. 

The Blue Streaks ended up placing third overall with a total score of 154 points. The Purple Raiders of Mount Union took home the team title for the fourth consecutive year with a score of 178 points. Finishing runner up was the Ohio Northern Polar Bears with 173 points.

The second day of competition got started in the field events as senior Emmy Bryan would provide a huge spark for the team, winning the women's high jump with a mark of 1.63 meters. Bryan secures her first OAC individual championship in her Blue Streak career. 

That momentum shifted to the women's triple jump as first year Aniela Balog would achieve her first All-OAC honor, placing third overall with a mark of 10.97 meters, which is a new personal best. Senior Olivia Stefka would place eighth overall with a mark of 9.99 meters to contribute to the point total. 

Performances would continue to build as the women's 4 x 200 meter relay of Sandra King, Kaleigh McNamara, Paige Munchick, and Kate Balland would secure All-OAC honors, finishing third overall with a time of 1:46.18. 

In the women's mile, the duo of Abby Schroff (5:05.15) and Alyssa Vis (5:08.55) would finish second and third respectively after coming off of day one performances to earn themselves All-OAC honors for the Blue Streaks. Senior Annie Higgins (5:12.76)  and first year Meah Prutzman (5:16.92) would collect personal best finishes as they would both score for the women in the event. For Schroff, it was her second All-OAC performance of the weekend. 

The 60 meter dash was a close one as first year Dakota Houston would collect her second All-OAC performance with a time of 7.74 seconds placing second overall. Senior Mia Scott would score for the women's squad placing fifth overall with a time of 7.87 seconds, a new personal best for Scott. 

Senior Ellie Kitsmiller would return to the track after winning the 500 meter dash the previous day. Kitsmiller would secure a fourth place finish in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:19.74 to score points for the Blue Streaks. 
The women's 1000 meter run was a special one to watch as six Blue Streak runners would go second through seventh in the event. Senior Alyssa Vis (3:03.71) and sophomore Kelsey Sheridan (3:05.91) would collect All-OAC honors for the women as they would lead for the women. Sam Goodnough (3:06.90), Kylie Bennington (3:07.37), Emmaline Hannan (3:08.34), and Sydney Wingler (3:09.67) would all follow suit as they would contribute in dramatic fashion to secure a top three team finish. 

In the women's 200 meter dash, first year Dakota Houston returns back to the track after earning All-OAC in the 60 meter dash. To no surprise, she would secure her third All-OAC honor of the weekend, finishing third place overall with a new personal best of 25.46 seconds. Sandra King (25.97 seconds) and Mia Scott (26.35 seconds) would also return to competition as they would score for the Blue Streaks as well. 

In the final distance event of the weekend, first year Anne Rea capped off her weekend on a high note, taking home another third place finish with a time of 10:23.64 in the women's 3000 meter run. This was her second All-OAC honor of the weekend. 

To conclude, the women's 4 x 400 meter relay of Paige Munchick, Kaleigh McNamara, Mia Scott, and Ellie Kitsmiller would place fifth overall with a time of 4:10.34 to end the scoring for the women's squad. 

It was a weekend full of high energy, excitement, and enthusiasm. Each performance carried over to the next and it was special to see what the team accomplished as a whole. 

Next up for the Blue Streaks will be the Tufts University Qualifying Meet in Medford, Massachusetts for potential national championship qualifications on Saturday, March 8th at the Gantcher Family Sports and Convocation Center.
