Women’s Track & Field Competes At Both Wisconsin La Crosse And Ashland In Split Squad Weekend

Women's Track & Field Competes At Ashland And Wisconsin La Crosse Both Friday And Saturday
ASHLAND, OH & LA CROSSE, WI – The women's track & field team took on a weekend full of competition as they traveled to both Ashland University and the University of Wisconsin La Crosse. 

These two meets on the schedule were vital in the team's performance and would be a big indicator as to where they rank among the best in Division III.

Looking at performances from the Mark Guthrie Legacy Invite, the Blue Streaks went up against some of the best athletes in the country. 

To get things started in the field events, senior Cara Jewett would make an appearance in the weight throw and place 10th overall with a mark of 14.16 meters. 

In the women's 60 meter dash, first year Dakota Houston would record a new personal best with a time of 7.79 seconds to place sixth overall in the finals. 

First year Sandra King would also run a new personal best in the 400 meter dash, running 1:00.62 to place 23rd overall. 

In the final event of the evening, the women's 4x400 meter relay of Sandra King, Paige Munchick, Kaleigh McNamara, and Ellie Kitsmiller would place seventh overall with a time of 4:09.87. 

At the Jud Logan Light Giver Open at Ashland University, the Blue Streaks competed on both Friday and Saturday. 

In the women's 5000 meter run, first year Anne Rea would lead the way for the women as she would place eighth overall with a time of 18:23.13. Junior Cassie Klein would finish 13th overall with a time of 18:53.46. 

First year Lexi Berwald would record a new personal best in the 200 meter dash by placing 55th overall with a time of 27.69 seconds. 

The mile run was also well-represented for the Blue Streaks as they would record notable performances throughout the event. Junior Alyssa Vis would run a huge personal best of 5:02.40 to place ninth overall. Junior Abby Schroff was not far behind as she would place 13th overall with a time of 5:06.54. Kelsey Sheridan (5:21.21), Kylie Bennington (5:23.80), Meah Prutzman (5:27.13), and Emmaline Hannan (5:27.64) would all place themselves in the top 40. 

First year Natalie Chryst would continue to keep getting better every week as she would also secure a new personal best in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:22.39, placing 24th overall. 

Looking at the field events, first year Aniela Balog placed 11th overall with a mark of 5.28 meters. Senior Emmy Bryan would return to the track as she would secure a mark of 1.60 meters in the high jump, placing seventh overall. 

The women will look to stay even keeled getting into the month of February as they look to get more high placing marks before the conference championships at the end of the month. 

Next up will be the Doug Raymond Invitational at Kent State University and the Mid-February Meet at Baldwin Wallace University next Friday-Saturday, February 14th-15th.
