At the Mark Guthrie Legacy Invite, a small contingent of Blue Streaks competed at the meet in a relay, individual events, and a field event.

Senior Matthew Russo kicked off the meet for the men as he competed in the men's shot put and placed ninth overall with a mark of 14.69 meters. Russo was the lone competitor for JCU in the field events this weekend at La Crosse.

In the 60 meter hurdle prelim, senior Jimmy Kartsonas would place 12th overall with a time of 8.54 meters.

Next was junior Basheer Alramahi as he would win the 400 meter dash with a time of 47.66 seconds, running the fastest time in the event this season.

Tyler Gast would represent JCU in the 200 meter dash and place 13th overall in the event with a time of 22.89 seconds.

Some of those athletes would later return and make an appearance in the 4x400 meter relay as they would place fifth overall with a time of 3:21.22. The athletes in the relay included Tyler Gast, Jimmy Kartsonas, Reece Bacak, and Basheer Alramai.

Transitioning now to the Jud Logan Light Giver Open, the Blue Streaks were ready to compete at a high level at Ashland University both Friday and Saturday.

In the field events, sophomore Jeremy Frazao (13.01 meters) and first year Jordon Rodman (12.87 meters) would place in the top 10 in the men's triple jump, earning sixth and seventh place finishes.

Matteo Taillet would tally a new personal best in the men's 200 meter dash placing 44th overall with a time of 22.85 seconds.

Sophomore Tony Tirado would continue to improve every week as he would record a new personal best in the 400 meter dash, clocking in at 51.40 seconds to place 13th overall.

The men's mile was a well-represented event for the Blue Streaks as they would place five runners in the top 30. Leading the way was sophomore Nate Julien as he would earn a 13th place finish with a time of 4:18.39. Following Julien was first year Sam Su as he would run 4:18.66 to place 14th overall. Mike Hvizdos (4:21.34), Dominic Delmoro (4:22.10), and Jack Root (4:23.65) would round up the top finishers for the men.

In the men's 800 meter run, sophomore Chris Whiting would lead the charge placing 37th overall with a time of 1:57.69, followed by Mike Hvizdos (1:57.80) and Josh Ackerman (1:58.04) placing 38th and 40th.

To conclude the running events, senior Ryan Champa would make his season debut for the Blue Streaks as he would place 21st overall in the men's 3000 meter run with a time of 8:41.09. First year Chuck Reigrut would earn a new personal best in the event, running 9:00.23 to place 36th overall.

As we get into the month of February, in the midst of the indoor season, the Blue Streaks look to maintain on their performances and keep building upon each meet as they get closer and closer to the conference championships at the end of the month.

Next up on the schedule will be the Doug Raymond Invitational at Kent State University and the Mid-February Meet at Baldwin Wallace University on Friday and Saturday, February 14th-15th.
