Women’s Track & Field Earns Numerous Personal Bests At Greater Cleveland Colleges Invite

CLEVELAND – This past Friday, the Blue Streaks traveled over just a few minutes away to Case Western Reserve University for the 2025 Ed Finnigan Greater Cleveland Colleges Invite at the Veale Convocation, Recreation, and Fitness Center. 

With just one week away from the OAC Indoor Championships, the women came in with poise and determination to fulfill the last opportunity of the regular season before championship competition. 

Throughout the meet, the women placed several new personal bests and wins in their respective heats to propel them moving forward.

To get the day started, in the field events, senior Emmy Bryan would win the women's high jump with a mark of 1.57 meters after winning the event at the All-Ohio Championships last week. 

In the women's weight throw, junior Breanna Berwald would secure an eighth place finish with a mark of 13.14 meters. Also from the throws, junior Sarah Hart would win the women's shot put with a mark of 11.77 meters, a new personal best. 

Senior Massey Andrykovitch would lead for the women in the long jump as she would earn a second place finish with a mark of 5.08 meters, followed by junior Paige Munchick placing fourth with a mark of 5.01 meters. 

The running events would shortly follow after as junior Abby Schroff would pick up the victory in the 5000 meter run, clocking in at 19:13.63. 

The women's one mile run became an exciting one to watch as two first years Anne Rea (5:16.81) and Meah Prutzman (5:18.90) secured huge personal bests, placing first and second overall in the event. Senior Annie Higgins wouldn't be far behind as she would place third with a time of 5:23.33 as she would make her return to the track after being out for a few weeks. 

Junior Ella Zambruno would be the lone Blue Streak in the 60 meter dash as she would place third overall with a new personal best of 8.24 seconds. 

In the women's 800 meter run, junior Morgan Dobos would secure a fourth place finish, clocking in at 2:31.66 in her third meet of the season. 

The women's 1000 meter run was also an exciting one as senior Ellie Kitsmiller would run 3:01.03 just three seconds shy of the school record in the event. Alyssa Vis (3:02.20), Emmaline Hannan (3:07.31), and Sam Goodnough (3:07.33) would round up the top four as they would also secure new personal bests in the event. 

Junior Kaleigh McNamara would lead for the Blue Streaks in the women's 200 meter dash as she would finish fourth overall with a time of 27.16 seconds. First year Alexis Berwald would finish ninth overall with a time of 28.14 seconds. 

Lastly, in the women's 3000 meter run, senior Anastasia Bakuhn would earn a new personal best with a time of 10:57.18 to finish second overall. 

It was a great day for the women as they are competing well at the right time and looking to bring the energy for next week. 

Championship racing is now upon us as the women will travel to Ada, Ohio next Friday-Saturday February 28th-March 1st for the 2025 OAC Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Ohio Northern University. The women will look to rebound from last year's third place finish and end on a high note as it will be their last indoor conference meet before heading into the NCAC next fall.
