Women’s Track & Field Performs At Midwest Collegiate Invite At Spire Institute

GENEVA – The Blue Streaks made the trip up to Spire Institute for the Midwest Collegiate Invite for their second meet of the 2025 indoor season. 

It was a meet full of tremendous competition and the women fully embraced the opportunity that lies ahead for them. 

The day got started with the field events as first year Aniela Balog would secure a new personal best in the women's long jump, leaping to a new mark of 5.29 meters, placing seventh overall. 

Another first year athlete Ella Gill would earn a new personal best in the women's triple jump, placing ninth overall with a mark of 10.37 meters. 

In the women's weight throw, senior Cara Jewett would lead the way for the Blue Streaks as she would place fourth overall with a mark of 15.17 meters, a new personal best for the captain. Sarah Hart (13.37 meters) and Breanna Berwald (12.37 meters) would place themselves in the top 15. 

The running events would soon follow as the women's distance medley relay would be the first event for the Blue Streaks. The team of Abby Schroff, Paige Munchick, Natalie Chryst, and Grace McKoon would win the event with a time of 12:43.94. 

The mile would follow soon after as senior Ellie Kitsmiller would place 18th overall with a time of 5:23.07. First year Maddie Harrington made her indoor debut as she placed 41st overall with a time of 5:37.93. 

First year Dakota Houston would continue to shine for the Blue Streaks as she would place second overall with a time of 7.84 seconds in the 60 meter dash final.

In the women's 800 meter run, first year Kylie Bennington would run in her second meet of the indoor season as she would run 2:27.41 to place 31st, while junior Cassie Klein would run 2:29.10 to place 35th overall. 

Junior Paige Munchick would continue to impress as she would lead in the 200 meter dash, clocking in at 26.67 seconds, followed by Kaleigh McNamara (27.19 seconds) and Mia Scott (27.31 seconds) placing 36th and 37th overall respectively. 
The women's 3000 meter run would be represented well as junior Abby Schroff would double back and run 10:08.55, a new personal best. Annie Higgins (10:24.49) and Alyssa Vis (10:34.31) would also secure new personal bests and place in the top 20. 

To round things up, the women's 4x400 meter relay of Dakota Houston, Sandra King, Kaleigh McNamara, and Ellie Kitsmiller would place fourth overall with a time of 4:04.51. 

The best is yet to come for this group as new personal bests across the board were the highlight of the women's team. 

The Blue Streaks will return to competition next Saturday, February 1st as they travel to New Concord, Ohio for the Muskie Meet #3.
