The day got started with the throwing events, which set the tone early for JCU. Making his debut for the Blue Streaks was first year Troy Buehner, who threw a mark of 12.57 meters in the weight throw. Not too far behind was senior Alec Gorman, who threw a mark of 12.06 meters.

The energy started to pick up as sophomore Jeremy Frazao set a new personal best in the high jump with a mark of 1.90 meters, placing second overall. First year Julius Kimbrough would jump to a mark of 1.80 meters.

Personal bests would start to flow in more for the men as fifth-year senior Jimmy Kartsonas would leap to a momentous mark of 14.01 meters in the triple jump. Jeremy Frazao (13.07 meters) and Joe Weatherspoon Jr. (12.47 meters) would also set new personal bests in the triple jump.

Moving on to the running events, first year Grant Preto would make his debut for JCU as he would run to a new personal best in the mile and finish with a time of 4:33.58 to place fourth overall.

Coming back for the Blue Streaks was Jimmy Kartsonas as he would make his debut in the 60 meter hurdles, running 8.25 seconds, posting a new personal best in the process.

In the men's 400 meter dash, junior Basheer Alramahi would win the event with a time of 48.58 seconds, followed by fifth-year senior Tyler Gast, finishing with a time of 50.54 seconds.

Also making his debut for the Blue Streaks was Ethan Show, who joined the program last year competed in the 60 meter dash and placed fourth overall with a time of 7.10 seconds.

First year Reece Bacak would have himself a day as he would place sixth overall in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.97 seconds.

This was a great way to start off the indoor season for the men and they will return to the track for competition on Friday, January 17th as they will travel to Ohio Northern University for the Rob and Patty Lydic Invitational in Ada, Ohio.

Lots to be proud of moving forward for Coach Tutskey and his staff going into this 2024-2025 indoor season.
