Anne Rea Becomes 4th Individual At JCU To Earn OAC Rookie Of The Year Award
UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – First year Anne Rea has earned more postseason awards for the Blue Streaks.

The star has been named Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Rookie of the Year.

Throughout the 2024 season, the Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary grad was a key contributor for the women.

Her first 6k took place at the Lehigh Paul Short Run, where she placed 93rd with a time of 22:49.8 to help the Blue Steaks score a 14th place finish. Soon after, she continued to progress as she placed 26th overall at the SUNY Geneseo Mike Woods Invitational with a personal best time of 22:32.1 to help propel the women's team to a fourth place finish.

At the OAC Championships, she placed ninth overall, earning First Team All-OAC honors with a time of 22:22.5, while running a personal record. A couple of weeks later at the Regional Championships, she placed 36th overall, representing JCU as the team's third runner.

She was one spot shy of earning Great Lakes All-Region honors, but became a valuable piece for the Blue Streaks at the Regional Championships.

Anne becomes the fourth individual to earn OAC Women's Rookie of the Year honors for John Carroll and joins some great company who have won the award in the past:

Abby Schroff - 2022
Sydney Jenko - 2019
Cameron Bujaucius - 2018

Rea will look to continue her momentum going into the track & field season and be a valuable contributor in the Blue Streaks' pursuit to greatness.
