The Blue Streaks opened up their 2017-18 season with a hard fought battle against the Spartans of Case Western Reserve, dropping a 215-76 decision at the Veale Natatorium Saturday.

Despite the overall result, there were a number of quality swims by the Blue Streaks.
Maddie Dolce placed second in her first event of the season, the 200 Free (2:01.83). Dolce took another second place finish later in the meet in the 500 Free with a time of 5:24.08.
Carmen Ferrante (1:08.67) and
Jessica Morrow (1:10.91) followed Dolce and went first and second in the 100 Breast. Ferrante's win was one of two first place finishes for the Blue Streaks.
Ferrante also finished second in the 100 Free (55.49) and the 200 IM (2:13.92).
The other first place belonged to
Olivia Talamo, as her debut for John Carroll produced a victory in the 50 Free (25.13).
Anne Crowley produced a runner-up finish in the 100 Fly (1:00.72).
To finish the day, Tori Vale,
Shelbi Shearer,
Hope Scherger, and  Dolce finished second with a time of 3:45.78 in the 400 Free Relay.
John Carroll will swim next at Ashland University on October 28th against the Eagles.
