On the strength of its doubles teams, the John Carroll women's tennis squad defeated the College of Wooster by a 5-4 margin at the Paramount Tennis Club in Medina, Ohio on Saturday.

The #1 doubles team of Catherine Engel and Kyle Cousineua had no trouble in its 8-0 victory, before Anna Stein and Tracy Gibson followed with an 8-1 triumph to get the Blue Streaks off to a fast start.

The doubles sweep was completed for JCU when Hannah Baumwell and Erin Davies dispatched Wooster's Kimberly Carter and Melanie Chin, 8-1, to put the Blue Streaks up 3-0 heading into singles play.

And though the Fighting Scots won the first two to climb back into the overall match, Tracy Gibson came to the rescue, giving the Blue & Gold cushion with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at #3 singles.

Hannah Baumwell's perfect 6-0, 6-0 win shortly after sealed the match for John Carroll, giving the Streaks their first win in as many tries in 2013.
