The David R. Meuse Wrestling Center
is the home of the John Carroll University Wrestling team.

The facility hosts practice space for the wrestling program, including a large, beautiful mat, workout equipment, and meeting space. The room opened in 2009 and has been a great facility for the Blue Streaks ever since.

An All-American Wrestling Wall recognizing 115 All-Americans and 16 National Champions sports a prominent wall. On a suspended balcony, workout equipment is available for the wrestlers' use. The facility also contains a media center with a 46 inch HD flat screen TV and computer support system for break down and review of competition matches and tournaments. Additionally, there is a wireless bluetooth capable sound system.

The room's origins date back to March 1992 with the approval of a proposal to relocate the wrestling room from its former location in the lowest level of what is now the Tony DeCarlo Athletic Center to the auxiliary gymnasium, also located in the DeCarlo Center. Due to its condition of disrepair, the first improvement was replacing the windows. This portion of the project was completed during the summer months. During the summer, Dr. Jim Lavin, a respected administrator and humanitarian, passed away. The renovation project was then abandoned and the antiquated gymnasium would continue to decline for the next thirteen years.

In 2005, the project was reinvigorated, as former Head Wrestling Coach Tony DeCarlo '66G stepped forward to raise funds for the venture. Then-head coach (and JCU Athletic Hall of Famer) Kerry Volkmann '71 also pledged his support. After a few years of fundraising, the full cost of the renovation was raised, $430,000 in total. In all, 150 wrestling alumni/friends contributed to the project. On October 10, 2009, University administrators, wrestlers past and present, and friends of John Carroll Wrestling gathered to dedicate the David Meuse Wrestling Center.

The facility bears the name of David R. Meuse '67, who spearheaded the donations for the center.
