Ryncarz guided JCU to a huge win at #7 OWU and a home victory over Kenyon

CLEVELAND – Over the course of the stretch run, John Carroll Women's Basketball is hitting its stride, winning five straight games in North Coast Athletic Conference play.

Last Wednesday's overtime victory at #7 Ohio Wesleyan University was especially important, and one of the catalysts behind the triumph has been rewarded.

Ava Ryncarz is the NCAC Athlete of the Week for women's basketball for the second time this season.

The Aurora native has caught fire down the stretch along with the team. Ryncarz has notched 15 or more points in four of her last seven games, all wins, with the last two such efforts happening last week.

Six days ago, Ryncarz and the Blue Streaks fought for a bigtime 70-65 victory over the Battling Bishops in Branch Rickey Arena. The victory at #7 OWU broke up a 22-game winning streak in conference play for the Battling Bishops.

The senior star poured in 19 points at OWU, hitting 5-of-9 shots from 3-point range. Critically, Ryncarz tabbed 9 rebounds while not turning over the ball.

Before Saturday's game, Ryncarz was honored for setting the school's single-game record for 3-pointers back in December. She also holds the school record for career 3-pointers. Soon after being recognized, Ryncarz got going vs. Kenyon. The Aurora grad grabbed 8 rebounds, as well.

Ryncarz stands third in the NCAC in points per game (15.0) and in rebounds per game (7.2).

Ryncarz and the Blue Streaks will head to The College of Wooster on Wednesday for a 6 pm road NCAC showdown.
