Women's Swimming & Diving Nabs Second at East Michigan Quad

Kami Contakis and the Blue Streaks put up some nice times at Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – A busy Halloween weekend yielded nice results for John Carroll Women's Swimming & Diving.

At the East Michigan Quad, the Blue Streaks finished in second place out of three teams with a total of 828 points, behind Hope College (1154) but ahead of Kalamazoo (622).

Results

In the relays, JCU enjoyed nice success. In the 200 Free Relay, Mairin Dalziel, Bree Shirkey, Dylayn Shipe, and Grace Roberts compiled a winning time of 1:41.65. In the 400 Medley, Audrey Sevald, Kami Contakis, Roberts, and Dalziel rolled for a top time of 4:08.43. 

Ella Muzychak won the 500 Free Relay in style with a time of 5:21.18. The distance star snagged first in the 1650 Free, winning by nearly a minute with a mark of 18:09.38. 

Kami Contakis impressed in the 200 IM with a victorious effort of 2:18.83. 

In the sprints, Mairin Dalziel did strong work as per usual, winning the 50 Free with a mark of 24.95, followed closely by Bree Shirkey's 25.47. Dalziel picked up another win in the 200 Free with a mark of 1:57.56. 

Next Up
The Blue Streaks will make their official home debut in the Johnson Natatorium, hosting Heidelberg University on Friday.
