Men's Wrestling Kickstarts OAC Action with a Win at Heidelberg

TIFFIN – To start the final go-around in the Ohio Athletic Conference, John Carroll Men's Wrestling got things started off on the right foot.

The Blue Streaks started and ended well in a 31-12 defeat of the Heidelberg Student Princes in Tiffin. 

John Carroll opened with three wins and closed things out with four victories, with a few losses sandwiched in between.

Results

Brett Stanley kicked things off at 125 pounds with a major decision, 12-3. Ty Daugherty kept things rolling at 133 with a narrow 4-1 decision. 

Diego Stropko then added four more points to the ledger at 141. His 15-6 win, his first dual victory at JCU, pushed the advantage to 11-0.

The Student Princes then battled back to steal the lead, 12-11. Heidelberg notched narrow wins at 149 and 157 before tallying a pin at 165. But from there, it was all Blue Streaks.

Aiden Ashburn righted the ship with a pin win in the second period at 174. Wills Bronson then fended off a strong challenge at 184 with a 3-2 decision.

John Carroll left no doubt down the stretch. Jesse Kanatzar (197) tabbed a second-period pin to seal the contest. At heavyweight, Thomas Lunt notched a tech fall at the 5:12 mark of the contest, ending the night with a strong showing.

Next Up
The Blue Streaks will be on the road this weekend. John Carroll will head to the Albion Invitational on Sunday in Michigan, where the action will begin at noon.
