WHEATON, Ill. -- A tough opening day yielded a quiet second day in Illinois for John Carroll Men's Wrestling.

The Blue Streaks only managed to send one wrestler to day two of the uber-competitive Pete Willson Invitational, with Thomas Lunt battling for sixth place.

As a team, the Blue Streaks placed 21st out of 30 teams at Wheaton College's premier tournament.

Final Brackets

Thomas Lunt found himself in the consolation bracket by day two, but still showed some strong stuff on the opening day. The Connecticut native notched a first-period pin win for starters. Lunt then fought for a 7-2 decision. But in the quarterfinal round, the senior lost a heartbreaker 4-2 decision.

To start his consolation journey, Lunt roared for a 3-2 victory in a bout decided by a tiebreaker period. His next conquest was less eventful, of a 9-3 decision. The consi semifinals again required extra time, but this time, Lunt came out on the losing end in an 11-8 defeat. In the fifth-place bout, Lunt lost an 8-1 decision to settle for sixth.
