Women's Swimming & Diving Bests Baldwin Wallace in Strong Effort

The Blue Streaks got off to a great start and never looked back in the home conquest. 
UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – John Carroll Women's Swimming & Diving left no doubt in the final home swim meet of the campaign.

The Blue Streaks led from wire to wire in a dominant effort against Baldwin Wallace. John Carroll bested the Yellow Jackets by a final score of 171-70.

The Ohio Athletic Conference victory on Morgan's Message Night places John Carroll in great shape in the standings.

The Blue Streaks opened the day on a strong note by winning the top two spots in the 200 Yard Medley Relay. Lauren Koppelmann, Regan Gunzy, Grace Roberts, and Abby Zablotny cruised to a conquest in the event with a nice time of 1:54.14. Annamarie Habusta, Kaitlyn Hilty, Marina Sneyd, and Anna Glass combined to take the silver, combining for a time of 1:59.66.

In the 1000 Free, Maddie Jarosz kept the Blue Streaks rolling with a victory. The Euclid native tallied a time of 11:50.08 to conquer the competition. Olivia Goodman kept up the win streak in the 200 Free, clocking a top time of 2:05.49. Anna Glass also excelled, touching the wall just behind her teammate in 2:06.05. 

Another win followed in the 50 Free. Mairin Dalziel led the way for a 1-2-3 sweep, clocking in at 24:47. Zablotny followed at 25:23 and Hilty completed the trio with a mark of 26:56. JCU tallied second, third, and fourth in the 400 IM next. Marina Sneyd, Prisby, and Maria Armao repped JCU well. 

In the 1 Meter diving, Sarah Ruetschle helmed JCU's efforts with a tally of 165.40, followed closely by Emily Gelske in fourth at 156.70. Gelske nabbed second on the 3 Meter board, accruing a score of 170.45. Sarah Roehrs followed closely behind in fourth at 159.80. 

Out of the diving break, Goodman and Roberts did good work in the 200 Fly. Goodman graced the top spot with a time of 2:15.91, while Roberts trailed at 2:24.48 in second. A fantastic 1-2-3 finish followed in the 100 Free. This time, Hilty earned the crown with a mark of 58.15. Koppelmann nipped at her heels in second in 58.58, with Armao rounding it out at 59.55. 

The Blue Streaks crushed it in the 200 Backstroke. Audrey Prisby kept up her hot stretch, winning her third event in two weekends. The veteran finished first with a mark of 2:19.33. Fellow senior Annamarie Habusta snagged second in 2:21.38, followed by Nicole Susie in third at 2:22.81. 

The wins kept coming, as Mairin Dalziel followed up with a conquest of the 500 Free, clocking in at 5:22.49. Hannah Smith notched third in 5:50.72. Regan Gunzy roared for a win off her own in the 200 Breaststroke, carding a time of 2:35.07 for the W. Kyan Snider-Mills made an appearance with a third-place effort. 

In a conclusion to the evening, Dalziel, Glass, Roberts, and Goodman formed a winning tandem in the 400 Free Relay. The quartet rolled for a victory with a time of 3:50.28. Isabella Genise, Jarosz, Koppelmann, and Sneyd clipped a second place time, as well. 

John Carroll will make the lengthy trip to Wilmington College tomorrow in the final swim meet of the regular season and the OAC finale. JCU's divers, meanwhile, will compete with Ashland University at the Johnson Natatorium at 4 pm since the Quakers do not have boards.

Saturday's meet is set to begin at 1 pm.
