Women’s Tennis Builds on Conference Success With OAC sweep of Baldwin Wallace

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS -- With the weather beginning to warm up again, the John Carroll Women's Tennis team took full advantage of the sunshine as they hosted the Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets at the Short Family Tennis Center on Wednesday, April 19.

The Ohio Athletic Conference competition proved to be a true testament to the tenacity of the Blue and Gold, as the team won with a final score of 9-0.

The Blue Streaks swept the doubles matches as they went up 3-0 after the first bout of competition.

In the closest doubles match of the day, Mia Zivkovic and Felicity Kolb took a 8-3 victory at the No. 1 spot. In the No. 2 doubles spot, Kaylyn Gimbel and Caroline Chandler earned a 8-1 finish after back and forth motion during the sets. Peyton Crumpler and Emma Boreman also earned an 8-1 finish in the No. 3 doubles match.

Moving into the singles matches, the Blue Streaks did not take their foot off the gas, as they did not allow for one Yellow Jacket team point to make the scoreboard.

Zivkovic got things done in the No. 1 singles match with set scores of 6-3 and 6-0. Kolb and Gimbel finished their opponents off in the No. 2 and No. 3 matches, respectively. Boreman did not allow her opponent a single point in the No. 6 spot only needing two sets to earn herself a victory.

John Carroll will take on Otterbein University in Westerville, OH in their final OAC matchup of the regular season. Stay tuned for updates as the weather may force a change to the schedule.
