Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ERIE, Pa. -- The Blue Streaks are on fire.

John Carroll University Volleyball entered the weekend on a 3-game losing streak. After the completion of the Penn State Behrend Tournament, the Blue Streaks possess a 4-game winning streak.

The Blue Streaks finished the 4-for-4 weekend with a pair of wins over Bluffton and SUNY Fredonia.

John Carroll opened the day with an early-afternoon victory over Bluffton, 3-1: 25-18, 25-19, 22-25, 25-19.

The Blue Streaks continued with another conquest over SUNY Fredonia, 3-0: 25-22, 25-17, 25-20.

"Overall, the team played with heart and poise and a lot of positive emotion to push us through the stickier points in each match," said Head Coach Michele Benoit. "It felt good!"

Match 1

Following a strong Friday, the Blue Streaks roared out of the starting line on Saturday afternoon.

The Blue Streaks burst out in the first set for a win. Benoit's Blue Streaks fired to a 25-18 win in the opening set to gain the early momentum.

The second set also belonged to the Blue Streaks. The University Heights warriors captured a 25-19 victory to push the lead to 2-0.

Bluffton got on the board in the third set. The Beavers snagged a 25-22 win in the third set to halve the deficit and stay alive.

The Blue Streaks finished things off in the fourth set, avoiding a fifth set to prevent a marathon session like on Friday. The Blue Streaks completed the match with a 25-19 win.

Match 2

For the first time all season, the Blue Streaks claimed a sweep.

The Blue Streaks have been used to doing it the hard way this season, as the previous five wins all took four or more sets.

John Carroll fought for a hard-earned triumph in the opening set. The Blue Streaks clawed for a 25-22 win in the first set, starting the contest off on the right note.

The Blue Streaks kept the fun going in the second set. In what would be the penultimate set, the Blue Streaks authored a 25-17 win.

The final set also went to the Blue Streaks. John Carroll commanded a 25-20 win, finishing off a satisfying sweep.

At the conclusion of the tournament, JCU's Anna Coughlin was named to the All-Tournament team.

With the wins, the Blue Streaks advance to 6-3 on the season.

"We were excited about bouncing back from a tough loss at Hiram," said Benoit. "Even though we went five with Behrend, it was the start of righting the ship for us. We played extremely well against a very good Westminster team that gave us the confidence to be aggressive offensively in our other matches."

The Blue and Gold return to action on Wednesday, at long last hosting a home match. The Blue Streaks will welcome Ohio Wesleyan to the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center for a 7 pm non-conference affair.

Note: Stats were not taken by the hosts on Court 2. JCU stats (taken by the coaches) will be uploaded in the days to come.
