The Blue Streaks had dominated in nearly every phase Sunday afternoon in Pittsburgh against Carnegie Mellon.
But when a late turnover led to a shocking goal by CMU's Jordi Long with 4:01 to play, all that dominance mattered little. The host Tartans suddenly had a 1-0 lead.
What mattered was a response.
John Carroll delivered that response with 92 seconds left in regulation, as
Mario Aboumitri finished a
William Turrittin corner to tie the game at 1-1, and that is where it would stay despite the best efforts of both teams in two overtimes.
The draw marks the first non-victory for John Carroll this season, as the Blue Streaks are now 7-0-1 on the year.
The visiting Blue Streaks had a 19-7 shots advantage, including 6-2 in the two extra periods. JCU also had a 10-2 edge in corner kicks.
