The John Carroll men's soccer team dropped their first game of the year on the road at Messiah College.

The #3 ranked Blue Streaks came into this showdown against a perennial powerhouse seeking a program defining win. Unfortunately, the power of Messiah - a team with 11 national titles since 2000 -- took over for a 3-0 win, moving JCU to 7-1-1 on the season.

The Blue Streaks hung in there for most of the match before going down 2-0 in the 61st minute. JCU was leading Messiah in total shots taken for about three quarters of the match, but in the latter half of the match John Carroll's aggressive play led to run outs for the Falcons and the eventual third goal.

JCU was able to muster up nine shots in the match. However, none of the nine made it on target. Moreover, the Falcons tallied 15 shots in this game while putting seven on target.

Of those nine shots, eight of them were taken by different Blue Streaks showing their ability to move the ball and spread the wealth.

Sophomore keeper Tommy Gallina entered in the second half and tallied four total saves.

John Carroll will look to bounce back on Wednesday at 7:00 pm when they host Ohio Wesleyan at Don Shula Stadium.
