Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Early Tally And Stout Defense Delivers John Carroll Women's Soccer Its First Victory In Bexley Since 1998

Considering the heartache John Carroll has experienced at times in Bexley over the past two decades, any successful journey to the land of the Capital Crusaders could be considered monumental.

For the first time since 1998, John Carroll left town with a victory. A Grace Monnin goal in the tenth minute stood up, and the Blue Streaks prevailed 1-0.

Despite being outshot 25-3, with JCU getting the first three shots of the game, the Blue Streak defense was up to the task. Withstanding nine corners and nine shots on goal, John Carroll improved to 3-0 to start league play.

Danielle DelGuidice had one of her best outings in goal, making nine saves as JCU blanked Capital for the first time since 2010

Since beating Capital, 1-0, in 1998, the Blue Streaks had gone 0-13-4 since in road matches against the Crusaders, and had been outscored 32-10 in those 17 contests. The only time during that entire span of games that JCU left town with any taste of victory was when it outlasted Capital in an OAC Tournament quarterfinal round shootout in 2012. The Blue Streaks advanced on penalty kicks, 3-2, after the teams had played to a 1-1 draw.

John Carroll improved to 7-3-2 overall and 3-0 in OAC play while Capital dropped to 9-4 and 2-1 in the OAC.
