Box Score The Blue Streaks knew what they were getting into Friday in the second round of the NCAA Women's Tennis Championship.

For the fifth time in 2017, John Carroll faced a nationally ranked team. The opponent would be #11 ranked Washington University in St. Louis. 

Like the other four times, the match would be a learning experience as the Bears won all three doubles matches and then closed out two singles matches in straight sets to defeat JCU, 5-0, in a contest played at the Wangerin Courts in Whitewater, Wisconsin.

Of the three doubles battles, the most competitive was at #1, where Rebecca Ho and Kaylan Griffith (ranked #1 in the ITA/Oracle Central Region) outlasted Lauren O'Malley and Madisyn Rini (ranked #10 in the ITA/Oracle Central Region), 8-4

The Blue Streaks were not winning any of the singles matches when Washington claimed the fifth and final point to earn the overall victory. 

John Carroll finishes its season at 16-10 overall after advancing to the NCAA second round for the first time in program history.

While the team portion of the season is over, O'Malley still has some playing days ahead of her as she was extended an invitation to compete as a singles player in the 2017 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships to be held May 25-2 at the Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
