Two early runs made the difference as John Carroll University baseball lost to Ohio Wesleyan University, 5-1, on Wednesday evening in Delaware, Ohio.
Matthew Donnelly was 2-for-4 at the plate, accounting for half of JCU's four hits.
Patrick Keohane extended his hitting streak to four with a 1-for-4 on an RBI single.
Patrick Scholla was 1-for-3.
John Carroll is now 7-11 on the year. Ohio Wesleyan is 7-8 following the win.
Fred Moore (L, 0-4) started for John Carroll; the freshman allowed two unearned runs and five walks in three innings.

Steven Virost, and
Cameron Mayle combined for five innings of two-run relief.
Ohio Wesleyan scored twice in the third inning on a pair of errors. The Battling Bishops scored three more in the sixth on a two-run single and a wild pitch. Keohane came through for the Blue and Gold in the seventh. His single to right center scored Aaron Zawadski and prevented a shutout.
John Carroll turns the calendar to April and opens Schweickert Field for the 2017 season on Saturday with a doubleheader against Ohio Northern.
