John Carroll's fortunes in five set affairs are in need of a reversal.
For the fourth time this season, the Blue Streaks played a match that went the distance, and for the fourth time they came up empty in the end. This time was especially cruel, as JCU captured the first two games before falling in five (25-23, 25-22, 20-25, 19-25, 12-15).
The Blue Streaks were done in not so much by its own attack but by a resurgence across the net. Hiram hit below .200 in the first two frames before uncorking attack percentage of .462 in game three, .277 in game four and .769 in the final set.
In fact, both teams had scintillating offense in the fifth set with John carroll hitting at a .667 clip. The deciding game featured a combined 21 kills against just three total errors between the two teams.
John carroll, which had won five of six games heading into Tuesday night, fell to 7-6 with the loss.
Alexa Webber and
Leah Switalski each had 13 kills, with Switalski moving onto 10th place on the all-time kills list with 975 in her career.
Madeline McDowell,
Sydney Slater and
Julianne McGervey each had nine kills.
Kit O'Shaughnessy used her 44 assists tonight to taker over second place all-time at JCU in that category (3,475).
