In the see-saw meeting with Case Western Reserve University, the John Carroll University Blue Streaks were the side that was down come the final whistle.

John Carroll dropped a 95-87 decision with local non-conference rival, Case Western Reserve, in what was the personification of a give and take battle. The game featured a first half that had just a -2 score differential for the Blue Streaks, but lights out shooting performances from the hosting Spartans in the third quarter sunk the Blue Streaks on the road.

Katlyn Spahar led the Blue Streaks with 31 points and eight rebounds while
Shmoo Pryor added an impressive 18 points to go along with her three assists. As a team, the Blue and Shot 70.7-percent from the floor and were 11-of-12 from the free throw line. The John Carroll defense forced Case Western Reserve into 21 turnovers, which led to 24 points for the visitors on the Spartan's mishaps.

The Blue and Gold also dominated in the paint after outscoring the Spartans, 40-24. Second chance points also heavily favored the Blue Streaks, 18-8.

JCU found foul trouble when they sent Spartan shooters to the line 30 times in the contest.

The first quarter was the highest scoring quarter the game offered after a combined 52 points were placed on the scoreboard.
Camille Adelman provided the most punch for the Blue Streaks in the quarter. Adelman came off the bench to score eight points and grab three rebounds in the opening quarter alone. The sophomore finished with 12 points and seven rounds on the night.

In the supporting role, the John Carroll bench was the dominate side. The reserves accounted for 20 bench points 10 rebounds in the game.

Second quarter play was the best frame from the Blue Streaks. Spahar supplied a nine point, three steal and two rebound stat line in the second quarter alone.
Sarah Sprecher also made an important contribution after scoring six points, recording a steal and a block after coming off the bench in the quarter.Â

First half play favored the hosting Spartans, 51-49.

It would be the third quarter that ultimately would lead to the demise of the Blue and Gold. After John Carroll opened the frame with a 6-0 run, the three point shooting ability of the Spartans was put on display. As a team, CWRU was 7-of-9 from beyond the arc in the third quarter alone. In the quarter, CWRU reserve scored just 25 points, but 21 of them came via the three ball.

There would be no fourth quarter come back in the book for the Blue Streaks after both sides stalemated at 19 points a side.

With the loss, John Carroll moves to 1-2 overall and currently stands with a two game losing streak. There will be just one more non-conference game before the Ohio Atheltic Conference schedule kicks off. On Wednesday, Nov. 30, John Carroll will travel to Albion, Michigan for a non-conference battle with Albion College.Â
