Every point counted against Baldwin Wallace, with senior Lindsay Eddingfield adding a few in the 500 and 1000 Free
John Carroll head coach
Mark Fino put on his mathematician hat midway through Saturday's regular season finale against Baldwin Wallace.
In his head, he computed the necessary points needed that would add up to victory for the JCU women's swimming & diving squad.
All the numbers crunched into what became a 145.5-139.5 JCU win.

JCU trailed by six points with two events remaining, but got a huge win from
Lindsey Fano and a monster effort from the 200 free relay to pull out the six-point triumph.
The attendees at the last swim meet hosted by John Carroll this season got to see a thrilling contest unfold -- right from the start. The first race of the afternoon, the 200 medley relay, ended in a tie which foreshadowed what turned into a closely fought Ohio Athletic Conference dual meet.
"It was a really nice way to end the regular season," said Fano. "Everyone stepped up and swam well."
Fano herself swam exceptionally well as she finished first in the 100 Yard breaststroke (1.09.19), the 200 Yard IM (2:16.45), and the 200 Yard breaststroke, where she broke her own school record with a time of 2:30:20.
When asked about the secret to her success, Fano offered an answer a coach would love.
Working on pullouts and pushing off walls," said Fano.
Junior Tori Watson had a impressive meet as she won the 200 freestyle (2.02.31), 50 freestyle (26.09), and the 100 freestyle (56.06).
Fellow Junior Katie Sheffield enjoyed success as well as she finished first in the 1000 freestyle (11:30.68), 500 freestyle (5:34.28), and swam in the final event of the night -- the 200 freestyle relay -- with
Rachael Libertin,
Amanda Casamatta, and
Ann Murphy collectively finishing with a time of 1:44.32.
Libertin,
Lindsay Eddingfield and
Sara Needham were honored prior to the start of the meet as the only three seniors on the JCU women's swimming & diving roster.
JCU ends the regular season 5-5 overall and 3-2 in the OAC.
John Carroll will be idle competitively until the Ohio Athletic Conference championships starting February 13 at the University of Akron.
