Box Score Sometimes, soccer is all about being at the right place at the right time.
Just ask John Carroll senior forward
Nicki Bohrer.
When teammate
Kay Akerly blasted the first shot of the Blue Streaks' match Wednesday night at the Ohio Wesleyan goal, it struck the crossbar.
Which proved to be unlucky just for a moment. The defelection went to Bohrer, who punched in what proved to be the game-winning goal from point blank range. That tally held up for th next 89 minutes and 10 seconds as John Carroll prevailed, 1-0, over the host Battling Bishops in Delaware, Ohio.
The victory was John Carroll's first of the season. It was also the first time John Carroll has defeated Ohio Wesleyan in seven tries in a series that dates back to 1990 -- although this was the first meeting of the two schools in women's soccer since 2001.
The Blue Streaks tallied a total of 27 shots compared to 13 for Ohio Wesleyan.Â
Nicole Grys made two saves for just her second career victory as a keeper for JCU.
With the win, John Carroll is now 1-3-1 on the season, while Ohio Wesleyan -- despite eight saves from Hannah Zacharias -- falls to 2-2.
