Box Score With the OAC regular season rapidly winding down the John Carroll University volleyball team looked to move one step closer to clinching a return to its first OAC Tournament since 2010 with a mid-week conference tilt at Baldwin Wallace.

Backed by Kit O'Shaughnessy's triple-double, the Blue Streaks secured a 25-12, 23-25, 25-19, 25-21 win to improve to 18-8, 4-2 OAC. Baldwin Wallace dropped to 9-16, 2-4 OAC.

O'Shaughnessy notched her second triple-double of the season finishing with 30 assists, 24 digs and 10 kills. The freshman hit .417 for the match and served up six aces.

"Kit is an incredibly well-rounded setting who just has a knack for making plays," said head coach Laura Rodeffer.

Sophomore Sara Kaminski added her first double-double contributing 18 digs and 11 assists in the winning effort. Alex Ehrett led the attack with a career-high 12 kills and hit .303 for the match. Katie Cosker (14 digs), Leah Switalski (11 digs) and Teresa Noewer (10 digs) also contributed on the defensive end.

"Sara was doing a great job of setting an accurate second ball in out-of-system (situations), and our pin hitters made gread decisions that kept the defense off balance," added Rodeffer.

John Carroll was aided by an 8-0 and 7-0 runs in the first set to establish control. Maddie McDowell recorded two of her kills during the 8-0 run while O'Shaughnessy chipped in two kills during the 7-0 run. John Carroll outhit Baldwin Wallace .353 to -.059 in the opening frame.

The second set featured a back-and-forth affair with 14 ties and six lead changes. The Yellow Jacket hitters heated up to a .308 mark with Switalski notching seven digs in the set.

The Blue Streaks regrouped in the third set coming out on top. With the set tied at 16 John Carroll closed out the set with a 9-3 run. Alexa Webber, Ehrett and Switalski each connected on two swings down the stretch to push the momentum all to John Carroll.

O'Shaughnessy took over in the fourth set with three of her aces keeping the Yellow Jackets reeling. A Colleen Bonacci kill gave momentum back towards Baldwin Wallace cutting the Blue Streak lead to three. Three aces down the stretch by John Carroll kept Baldwin Wallace away and a kill by Webber closed out the match.

"The best thing about Sara and Kit is that they really don't care about the individual accolades," said Rodeffer. "They understand that volleyball is the ultimate team sport and they wouldn't be able to achieve these things without their teammates. They want to win and compete hard, just like the rest of the team."

John Carroll travels to Ohio Northern for a 1 p.m. contest on Saturday, Oct. 26.
