Box Score 2 For any team that loses its first two contests of a tournament, it can be easy to lose spirit and come out flat the next day. John Carroll, however, attacked its competition Saturday, knocking off Albion (3-0) and Allegheny (3-1) to even its record at 2-2 in the 2012 Capital Invitational in Bexley, Ohio.
Against Albion, the Blue Streaks dominated throughout. A balnaced attack enabled JCU take three straight sets, 25-15, 25-13, and 25-14.
Teresa Noewer led the way with nine kills, while
Sara Kaminski contributed 14 digs for the Blue & Gold.
In the afternoon match, John Carroll stumbled early, losing the first set, 22-25, but came roaring back to win the next three and the match. 25-15, 25-16, and 25-16 were the scores, as the Streaks rolled. Three players had double-figure kill totals in
Charlotte Sykora (11),
Alex Ehrett (11), and Noewer (10). Kaminski tacked on 22 digs, while freshman
Ellie Rafoth's 20 assists led the squad.
With the wins, John Carroll strengthened its record to 8-13 overall, and will look to add to its win total on Tuesday, October 2nd at 7:00 p.m. in the DeCarlo Varsity Center.
