JCU Women Break Through For First Win In Claiming Consolation Prize At Veale Classic

Rachel Libertin was part of John Carroll's first two wins in a dual meet against Oberlin
John Carroll had to wait until the second week of November and its sixth meet of the season, but a strong effort across the board by the Blue Streaks resulted in victory this afternoon in the consolation meet of the 2011 Veale Classic staged at Case Western Reserve Saturday

Results:  Opener vs. Case  Consolation vs. Oberlin

JCU faced off against Oberlin after suffering a loss in the opening round against host Case Reserve. The Blue Streaks snagged six victories over the course of the afternoon to pull off a 121-102 win.

The Blue Streaks began the day by winning the 400 Medley Relay. The quartet of Julia Adams, Rachel Libertin, Emma Atkinson, and Victoria Watson placed first in a time of 4:15.46.

Libertin then hopped back in the pool to finish first in the 1000 Free with a winning time of 11:16.23 -- almost 18 full seconds ahead of the field.

Adams was a double winner, touching the wall first in the 200 IM and 200 Back. Adams and teammate Sam Mossman picked up big points with a 1-2 finish in the Back event.

Danielle Ketterer, who also won twice against Case the night before, swept the diving events.

JCU is now 1-5 on the year.
