Rachel Grdina (#7) set up John Carroll's lone goal against Baldwin-Wallace Tuesday night
Officially, John Carroll was given credit for one shot on goal Tuesday night at Baldwin-Wallace.
Talk about a model of efficiency.
That one shot was
Betsy Haigh's finish of a
Rachel Grdina cross in the 16th minute that proved to be the night's lone goal in a 1-0 Blue Streak victory over the host Yellow Jackets at Finnie Stadium.
Box Score
Molly Gradowski, on the other hand, was a model of productivity. The JCU senior keeper made nine saves, including five in the second half, for her sixth shutout of he season. That is the second highest total in the OAC behind Otterbein's Tara Carter.
JCU was outshot 20-2 and weathered seven corner kicks by Baldwin-Wallace, yet prevailed for the sixth time in its last seven matches. The Blue Streaks are now 9-7-2 overall, and more importantly 6-2 in the OAC.
With its win tonight, John Carroll is guaranteed no worse than a #4 seed in next week's Ohio Athletic Conference postseason tournament. That secures at least one home match for the Blue Streaks, and results this weekend could move JCU as high as #2 depending on its outcome with fellow third place occupant Capital at home Saturday and second-place Ohio Northern's match against Marietta Friday.
