Jess Hammer (#12), Emily Bendzak (#4) and Melanie Rodriguez (#7) combined for 27 digs against Baldwin-Wallace
Two teams so similar it does take a roster to tell them apart met Tuesday night to provide some semblance of order as far as playoff positioning goes in the upcoming Ohio Athletic Conference postseason tournament.

John Carroll and Baldwin-Wallace began the evening tied for fifth place, but five games later, host Baldwin-Wallace came out on top and secured the number five seed with a 22-25, 25-20, 21-25, 25-18, 15-10 victory over John Carroll.

Box Score

Both squads feature senior setters and a youthful cadre of attackers and back row specialists, and at the end of the night ten points would separate the Cleveland area foes. It was the Yellow Jackets ability to finish points in the final two games that proved to be the difference.

John Carroll (15-13, 3-5 OAC) was paced by ten kills from Kerry Fox and 36 assists and 17 digs from senior setter Meredith McDiarmid. JCU, which is just 2-9 in its last 11 matches, finished the night with 42 kills against 29 kills -- two short of a season-high.

The loss puts the Blue Streaks in a tie for sixth place with Capital, whom they play Saturday. the winner will be the #6 seed in next week's OAC Tournament.

Baldwin-Wallace improved to 19-13 overall and 4-4 in the OAC.
