Wycliffe Odhiambo took some of the sting away from the rash of JCU injuries by assisting on the Blue Streaks' third and final goal against Denison
Starting a line-up missing five opening day starters, the supposedly depleted John Carroll Blue Streaks refused to feel sorry for themselves and delivered a 3-0 shutout of Denison.
Box Score
With many of the wounded watching from the sideline, those who laced up their cleats made the most of their opportunities. Despite being outshot 15-9, John Carroll cashed in once in the first half and twice in the second to win for the fourth time in the last six games (the other two results were ties).
Corey Rider (Vermilion, OH, Vermilion) connected on his fourth goal of the season when he finished off a pass from Thor Erikson in the 30th minute.
The Blue Streaks led 1-0 at the half, but did not wait tlong to break the match open. In the 50th minute,
Kyle Buxman (Poland, OH, Youngstown Cardinal Mooney) seized on a deflected ball and deposited his second goal of the year into an empty net.
Joe Ciacchi (North Royalton, OH, North Royalton), normally on the starting point of a goal-scoring combination, was the finisher in the 79th minute. He ran down a pass from rookie
Wycliffe Odhiambo and punched in JCU's third and final tally.
The Blue Streaks are now 6-1-2 on the year, while Denison falls to 4-3-1.
