Kore Sharpley enters his second year as Assistant Athletic Director for Student Success and Leadership in the 2025-26 academic year. Sharpley began in his role in January 2025.
Sharpley works with at-risk student-athletes to maintain good academic standing, provides guidance for students on leadership initiatives, and aids with academic events.
Sharpley enters his fourth year at John Carroll. From February 2022 to December 2024, he served as an Academic Success Advisor. In this role, Sharpley assisted students with academic and career planning, taught "Advising for Success," and worked on individual improvement plans with students. Additionally, Sharpley was on the Leadership Legacy Award selection committee, represented Academic Success office and JCU at recruiting events, and served as Staff Advisor for Black Students in Action (BSA).
Previously, Sharpley worked as an Academic Advisor at Kent State University from July 2017 to February 2022. At KSU, Sharpley monitored student academic progress and advised students on how to meet their goals, conducted athletic eligibility audits, served on academic reinstatement review committee, and more.
Sharpley was a decorated wrestler at The Ohio State University, as he qualified twice for the NCAA Division I Championship Tournament and earned a top 10 ranking in his weight class. After earning his degree in Sociology & Criminology in 2001, Sharpley worked in various roles across Northeast Ohio, including as a Behavioral Health Specialist (Positive Education Program), Case Manager (Murtis Taylor Human Services System Program), and Intervention Specialist (Solon City Schools).
Sharpley returned to school to attain a Master of Education degree from Baldwin Wallace University, earning his degree in 2017. During his time at BW, he worked as a Graduate Intern for Student Athlete Services.
