Former Blue Streak standout goalkeeper Carl Contrascier is in his second year as a member of the John Carroll University women’s soccer coaching staff. He spent the 2013 as a volunteer assistant. Contrascier will serve as an assistant coach for the women’s program and the men’s goalkeeper coach in 2014.
A 3-year letterman, Contrascier played in the second-most games (48) at goalkeeper in program history. His 27 wins rank third all-time and his 193 saves rank fourth. For his career, Contrascier posted a 1.24 goals against average, a mark ranking ninth in JCU history.
As a senior in 2012, Contrascier was a second team All-OAC and an Academic All-Ohio student-athlete. He finished with a 10-6-2 record in goal posting a 1.19 goals against average and a .763 save percentage.
In 2011, he was a second team All-OAC an All-Ohio and All-OAC academic performer and finished with the third-most saves in a single season with 85. His 11 wins still rank tied for third all-time in program history.
In high school, Contrascier was a member of the all-state, all-district and all-county teams at Medina Highland High School.
A consistent member of the Dean’s List, Contrascier graduated with a degree in history in May, 2013.
