Derek Smith '19 enters his sixth season with the John Carroll Men's Golf coaching staff in the 2025-26 academic year.
Smith is a 2019 John Carroll graduate. He played under Coach Mike Moran for three years, and is currently in the process of becoming a PGA professional.
Smith helped the 2025 Blue Streaks win the OAC Championship and earn a ticket to the NCAA Tournament. Previously, Smith mentored the 2022 Blue Streaks to an OAC crown and the program's first trip to the NCAA Championships since 1997.
Upon graduation, Smith became the assistant golf professional at Weymouth Country Club in Medina. Smith is now working as the assistant golf professional at Avon's Red Tail Golf Club and spends his winter months working out of Hitterz Indoor Golf in North Ridgeville.
