Jake Hanzie

Jake Hanzie enters his second season as a graduate assistant for the JCU Baseball team in the 2025-26 academic year. He works with John Carroll's pitchers.

In his first campaign, Hanzie helped to improve the John Carroll pitching staff. JCU finished 35th in NCAA Division III in WHIP and top three in the OAC in Strikeout-to-Walk Ratio, Walks Allowed Per Nine Innings, and and WHIP. Jake Corll and Roger Simon both made the OAC All-Tournament Team. Simon finished the season second in the OAC in ERA.

A 2024 graduate of Mount Vernon Nazarene University, Hanzie earned his Bachelor's in Health and Physical Education. The Creston, Ohio native was a 3-year letterwinner for the Cougars, helping MVNU win a conference championship and make it to Regionals twice under Coach Keith Veale, who has won over 1,100 games in his coaching career.

Hanzie will be pursuing a Master's degree in Sports Leadership while at JCU. He is also working to become a certified strength and conditioning coach, another area that he is very interested in.

He resides in Shaker Heights with his wife, Macyn.
