Women's Tennis Keeps Rolling with Great Road Win over Otterbein

The Blue Streaks dominated the Cardinals, a strong foe

NEW ALBANY, Ohio – Against an old foe, John Carroll Women's Tennis took care of business.

The Blue Streaks traveled to the Columbus area to do battle with Otterbein University on Saturday, and handled the former conference opponent.

In a third straight win over the Cardinals, John Carroll prevailed, 6-1. The wide margin of victory marked the best win over Otterbein since 2021 (8-1 on April 30, 2021).

John Carroll stood victorious in all three doubles contests, though none were blowouts. Atop the order, Maddie Kavenagh and Evelyn Deren notched a 6-3 conquest. Felicity Kolb and Emma Smith cruised quicker at #2 singles, 6-2. The third doubles proved to be the closest, with Madi Davila and Zoe Nicholas sneaking by with a 6-4 win.

Kavenagh, the reigning NCAC Athlete of the Week, started strong and finished well in a 6-0, 6-3 conquest at #1 singles. Deren, also a former conference athlete of the week, picked up a 6-2, 6-3 win at the second slot.

Kolb's #3 singles bout proved to be the toughest. The junior dropped the opening set, 4-6, before rebounding in a 6-1 victory in the second. Kolb outlasted her foe in a tiebreaker, 10-5. Both Smith and Madi won by 6-1, 6-1 victories at #4 and #5.
