The Blue Streaks' "A" team finished 11th at the Savannah Invitational

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The spring season began in a much warmer climate for John Carroll Women's Golf.

The Blue Streaks began the 2026 portion of the schedule in Georgia at the Savannah Invitational hosted by Berry College at the Savannah Country Club on Monday and Tuesday.

Against strong Division III competition, including several ranked teams, the John Carroll "A" squad finished in 11th out of 16 teams with 700 strokes, only 10 behind the seventh-placer in a tight team finish. The JCU "B" team also took part in the event.Ā

Results

As might be expected, the course played differently than the Blue Streaks are used to in the north. Most especially, players noted the greens being grainy, changing the speeds of putts and making life more difficult in the short game.Ā

As usual, Julia Gulla led the way for the Blue and Gold. The first year notched a 78 on both days. The Nordonia grad's 156 earned seventh place for the star, nine shots back of the medalist, Pfeiffer's Kirstyn Page.Ā

Kyah Huckleberry stood second on JCU's top squad. The Ashland native opened with a round of 87 before improving for an 84 on the second day. Her score of 171 tied for 30th. Hannah Prince opened with a 93 before rebounding with an 85 on the second day, finishing at 178.Ā

Madison Maxwell carded a line of 100-95-195 for JCU's next finisher. Erin McCaffrey followed closely behind at 100-97-197.

Alexandra Yaeger led the way for the "B" squad, with a line of 87-89-176 for 42nd, a top-half finish. Meredith Thompson tied Prince with a final tally of 178 (88-90). Lauren Roof finished at 98-94-192 for the two-day event. Amanda Millis and J'Leena Figueroa rounded things out for the Blue Streaks.Ā

Next Up
John Carroll will have some time to get set for a busy April. Pending no schedule changes, JCU will return to action on April 3 for the Mount Union Invitational at Tannehauf in Alliance.Ā
