Izzy Coode Impresses as NCAC Player of the Week

Coode hit for the cycle to lead JCU to a 6-2 record

CLEVELAND -- After an amazing week in the warm, Florida air, John Carroll Softball has swept the North Coast Athletic Conference's Athlete of the week honors.

For the Blue Streaks, this is a big deal, as JCU wins a Player of the Week accolade for the first time since Gracie Bressoud on April 11, 2022.

Izzy Coode has secured Softball Player NCAC's Softball Player of the Week honors.

Coode shone brightly this week in Florida. The sophomore helped her team finish 6-2 after a great trip to the Space Coast Games in the Sunshine State.

The Mentor native thrived in the eight games, compiling a .407 batting average and an impressive 15 RBIs. That RBI total ranks tops in the NCAC early in the season. Coode tallied hit a hit in six of eight games, including five multi-hit games.

In the penultimate game of the trip, Coode enjoyed a rare, difficult to achieve feat in softball: Hitting for the cycle. Against Concordia Chicago, Coode blasted a 2-run homer in the first, ripped a bases-clearing triple in the second, notched a 2-run double in the third, and ripped an RBI single in the fourth. Her statline is amazing: 4-of-4, 8 RBIs, and 3 runs.

The shortstop is quickly proving to be a key bat in the middle of the lineup for John Carroll.

The Blue Streaks will be back in action at Bracken Field against Oswego State on Wednesday, March 18 with the first pitch starting at 1 pm.
