Dakota Houston Earns Two School Records, Highlighting Women's Track & Field Debut At YSU Icebreaker

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – It was an exciting evening for the women's track & field program.

A small group from the team traveled to Youngstown State University for the YSU Icebreaker to make their indoor debuts for the 2025-2026 season.

The day got started in the women's 5000 meter run as seniors Abby Schroff and Morgan Dobos placed themselves in the top five for the whole race.

Schroff placed second overall with a time of 17:37.57, while Dobos earned a new personal best of 17:47.14 placing fourth overall.

That momentum rolled into the next event for the Blue Streaks as sophomore Dakota Houston picked up where she left off last year and broke her own 60 meter dash school record with a new time of 7.54 seconds in the preliminary round.

Houston is now the 14th all-time athlete in the event in all of Division III with that time.

That didn't stop for Dakota as she would break a meet record in the 200 meter dash, winning the event with a time of 24.21 seconds. With that time, that puts her at sixth all-time in Division III in the event.

Another sophomore who also had herself a day was Sandra King, who competed in the 400 meter dash and placed fifth overall with a time of 57.63 seconds. This is now Sandra's third school record of her career for JCU.

Senior Paige Munchick earned a new personal best in the 400 meter dash, placing 19th overall with a time of 59.53 seconds.

It was a successful day for the team as they will now look towards their next opportunity at home.

Next up for the team will be the first annual JCU Alumni Meet, which will be taking place in the brand new Athletic Wellness & Event Center on Saturday, January 17th at 12:00pm (ET).
