The JCU Women's Basketball star set a new JCU record for 3-pointers in a game on Saturday

CLEVELAND – Following a historic effort on Saturday, a star of John Carroll Women's Basketball is garnering well-deserved recognition.

With a school record and career-high scoring day, the veteran leader of the Blue Streaks has secure a weekly honor from the North Coast Athletic Conference.

Ava Ryncarz is the NCAC Athlete of the Week for women's basketball.

The Aurora native shined in three victories for the Blue Streaks this past week. But she saved her best for last.

In the last game of a busy week, the second of two in Tennessee, Ryncarz caught fire. The senior star roared for a career-high 34 points. Along the way, the veteran nailed a program-record 10, yes TEN, 3-pointers in a phenomenal effort. Ryncarz's sharpshooting was truly something to behold, plus she picked up 11 rebounds. JCU rolled past Berry College thanks in part to her efforts, 73-47.

In the first Tennessee contest, the Aurora grad notched 12 points, helping JCU fire up a 70-61 win over Williams College.

To kickoff the week, Ryncarz tallied 16 points and 11 rebounds over Saint Vincent. With Ryncarz helping to lead the way, JCU snagged a 62-51 victory over the Bearcats.

On the year, Ryncarz stands second in the NCAC with 15.4 points per game. What's more, the star scorer also has four double-doubles in 10 games. As a team, JCU has a 9-1 record and carries a #11 ranking in the most recent D3hoops.com poll.
