Chicone is just the fourth JCU Men's Basketball player to make the Team of the Week

Luke Chicone's recent performances have earned him a spot on the coveted D3hoops.com Team of the Week.

This is Chicone's first time making the team, placing him in elite company. The graduate student is only the fourth Blue Streak in program history to make this list.

His performance this past week was nothing short of impressive, notching a career high in points against Transylvania and another impressive scoring performance against Mount St. Joseph. Chicone currently leads the NCAC in points per game, scoring an average of 26.8 a night.

John Carroll kicked off the Lauren Hill Tip-Off Classic against host Mount St. Joseph. In his team's 106-88 victory, Chicone displayed his scoring ability, registering 25 points for the Blue Streaks. In addition to his scoring, the Mentor native displayed impressive passing, with a total of 7 assists.

In the second game of the Lauren Hill Tip-Off Classic, John Carroll faced off against Transylvania University. Chicone's career night helped propel the Streaks to an 84-82 victory. Chicone showed off his ability to take over a game, scoring a career-high 41 points. Chicone totaled 5 steals and 4 assists in this game as well, showing his prowess in all aspects of the game.

Chicone has been a star for John Carroll thus far, as the NCAC points per game leader, averaging nearly 27 points per game. However, his scoring is not the only statistic he has excelled in this season. Chicone currently leads John Carroll's offense with a team-leading 21 assists through the first four games. Chicone also plays with exceptional hustle, leading John Carroll in rebounds and steals, currently boasting 22 and 12, respectively.

Chicone will look to continue this streak of dominance for John Carroll, as they are gearing up for the beginning of conference play in their first season in the NCAC. But first, JCU will have a non-conference home game vs. Saint Vincent College on Tuesday, December 2.
