Volleyball Wraps Up #2 Seed in NCAC Tournament by Beating Woostr

The Blue Streaks swept the Fighting Scots on the road

WOOSTER, Ohio – In the final North Coast Athletic Conference game on the schedule, John Carroll Volleyball took care of business.

The Blue Streaks rolled past the College of Wooster on the road in a clean 3-0 sweep by set scores, 25-19, 25-20, 25-21.

With the victory, John Carroll clinches the #2 seed in the upcoming NCAC Tournament. JCU earns a first-round bye and will play an opponent to be determined on Friday, November 14 at Wittenberg University.

John Carroll came out swinging at the start of the match to the tune of a 9-2 advantage. Wooster tried to stem the tide, but nothing could stop the JCU train. Natalie Glowe and Mary Kate Sheehan particularly powered the unstoppable force of a front line that tallied 17 kills in the first set en route to a 25-19 conquest.

The visitors' attack was less efficient in the second set, but it didn't matter. After Wooster tied it up at 8-all, the Women of University Heights roared for a 7-point run to take control, with a pair of Glowe kills plus a pair of Wooster errors making the difference. Wooster got within a couple late, but two Hailey Williams aces ensured the day belonged to JCU.

Williams dominated again at the service line to start the third set, with JCU opening up a 5-0 lead. JCU never again trailed, and some new faces got to contribute, including Claire Beaman tabbing a pair of kills late.

Glowe topped the team with 11 kills, followed closely by Williams with 10. Williams also notched an impressive 7 aces. Tess Humphrey did most of the passing with 16 assists. Olivia Mogyordy accrued a team-high 12 blocks.
