The Blue Streaks finished in 16th place in a 24-team field

MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. – In the penultimate tournament of the fall season, John Carroll Men's Golf traveled south to Florida for a three-day invitational.

The Blue Streaks took part in the three-round Golfweek October Classic from Sunday through Tuesday, in an invitational that welcomed top teams from across the country to Raven Golf Club in Miramar Beach, Florida.

In a 26-team field packed with national contenders, the Blue Streaks settled for 16th place. John Carroll tallied a final line of 300-289-294-883.

With U.S. Air Force jets buzzing overhead, the Blue Streaks started off behind the eight-ball before settling in on the beautiful par-71 course.

Wade Boyle personified this, as the junior started out with a 78 before rebounding well. The Greensburg, Pennsylvania fired up back-to-back rounds of 71 (-1) to finish with a tally of 218, tying for 27th place. Three birdies on the back nine on Sunday marked a strong finish for him.

Robert Kimmel fired up a one-under par in his first nine holes of the tournament to help help open up with a 74. But his best came on day two, with an even par 71 effort punctuated by three birdies on the back nine. The graduate student finished off with a 76.

Owen Tehan started off the tournament with a 77 before responding with lower scores, first with a 73 on Monday and then a 74 on Tuesday. Birdies on No. 5 and 17 in his second round highlighted his effort.

Daniel Donahue played solidly all across the event, with a final line of 75-75-74. In both the second and third rounds, Donahue netted three birdies in impressive fashion.

Justy VonLehmden rounded things out for the Blue Streaks with a tally of 74-75-77. Perhaps his top moment of the event was a birdie on No. 2 on the opening day, as the Saint John's Jesuit grad was the only Blue Streak to birdie the 460-yard par 4 hole.
